About this client/child: Where to begin! Georgie, 14, is a determined and active girl who strives for her independence and has overcome many challenges. She is outgoing, happy and caring, with a love for play, all things, hair, nails and make-up, arts and crafts, scooting, and trampolining. Georgie sustained an Acquired Brain Injury before her 3rd birthday, as a result she presents with a global learning disability and struggles with pacing herself, fatigue, and has a lack of danger awareness which makes her very vulnerable. Georgie is very good at masking her challenges, and requires support to plan, organise and stay on task. Georgie attends an SEN school, and lives at home with her Mummy, Daddy and younger brother in Hemel Hampstead.
Overview of role: Georgie requires a Therapy Assistant to provide 1:1 support during her therapy appointments, which will include driving Georgie to and from her medical and therapy appointments at hospital, community clinics and school. The Therapy Assistant will implement therapy advice and plans as instructed both at home and in the community, work in collaboration with her parents, case management team, therapists and other healthcare professionals. As Georgie struggles with fatigue, her Therapy Assistant will help her to recognise the signs before she ‘crashes’, which in turn will reduce the joint and muscle pain she experiences. Georgie wants to keep up with her peers, is very active and loves to play and have fun; these are all areas where subtle support is required. This role is all about facilitating Georgie, promoting her independence and supporting her overall development.
Who this job would suit: You will have experience of supporting children/young people with SEN or additional needs. Behavioural, sensory processing and sensory seeking experience is highly desirable. The successful *female Therapy Assistant will have excellent communication skills, be reliable, and proactive.
What’s great about this job: Supporting Georgie is, of course, the best part of this role; she has huge potential and loves life! A truly rewarding role, working alongside a supportive and welcoming family. Ongoing support, supervision and training offered, along with the opportunity to upskill in areas such as therapy and rehabilitation. Apply today!
