Essential: 2 years+ experience supervising and supporting a care team, experience supporting an autistic adult client in their own home and epilepsy experience. Good leadership skills. Confident supporting a client in water. Non-smoker/vaper.
Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: Guaranteed 40 hours per week, working 5 days a week with every other weekend required. The role is primarily daytime hours, except for occasional emergency night cover.

Accommodation: Dan lives independently in a chalet bungalow, with a sofa bed available for staff covering night shifts.

About this client/child: Dan is a sporty and active 31-year-old who loves animals and the outdoors. His favorite activities include cycling, hiking, gardening, and cooking. Dan has profound autism and overall developmental delay, communicating through gestures and PECS. He receives 1:1 support, with 2:1 supervision always in the community. He has generalised epilepsy, which is currently less controlled than before, so family are currently re-balancing his medication. Dan experiences at least three seizures a month, and all Support Workers will be trained to administer emergency Buccal Medication.
Overview of role: As Dan’s Care Team Leader, you’ll support his daily routines at home and in the community, promoting his independence in all areas. You will be responsible for managing a team of six Support Workers, overseeing staff rotas, coordinating training based on learning needs, updating care plans and risk assessments, and ensuring the team remains motivated and committed to providing high-quality care. This role guarantees 40 hours per week over five days, following a four-week rolling rota. Shifts are primarily during the day, including every other weekend. Days & Hours Example shifts include: • Monday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM (management tasks) & 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM (care hours with Dan)
• Tuesday to Friday: 8-hour shifts with an unpaid lunch break (8:00 AM – 1:00 PM & 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM)
The role offers an hourly rate of £20.00 gross per hour.
Who this job would suit: We are looking for a confident, positive, and experienced Care Team Leader who has previously supported a client with autism and epilepsy in his own home. You should have good leadership skills and be happy to put boundaries in place. Personality wise this role will suit someone who is sporty and adventurous in nature.
What’s great about this job: The family will provide personalised training relevant to Dan so you will have comprehensive information about Dan to be best able to meet his needs. This will include epilepsy training at the start of the contract and a refresher course after one year. You will be working in a very supported environment with lots of outdoor space and activities to explore.
