About this client/child:
Paul is 36 years old. He lives with his rather amazing mum and is supported by a great team of 5 Personal Assistants plus his loving assistance dog. His sister also lives close by which is fab! Paul has a kind and lovely personality; he lives a very sociable, independent life. Paul sustained Severe brain injury at birth. He can weight bear and walk with assistance, has epilepsy which is controlled, and wears an epileptic helmet at all times. He can eat orally with support.

Overview of role:
Although Paul lives at home, he has his own funky, vibrant downstairs environment. This is a 2-1 role so you will always have support in enabling Paul in his day-to-day routine.   As well as food, music is a massive part of Paul’s and his family’s life. From folk to Punk music, there are gigs to attend and fabulous music festivals in the local area. Paul enjoys being out, going to pubs, seeing friends, and hanging out with his sister. Paul will decide if he wants to go out or stay home; he knows his own mind and will let his PAs know using non-verbal communication what his day will look like. He uses gestures/body language and can stand up to show. There is a comprehensive rota published well in advance for the team. If doing a sleeping in shift it is very rare that Paul will require any assistance.

Who this job would suit:
Obviously commitment to any of our clients goes without saying, but this role would suit someone who is on a pathway towards professional Personal Assistant work in the future. Experiencing working within a team and enabling adults to live independently will give you invaluable skills for the future.

What’s great about this job:
This is a family friendly role; there is flexibility to work hours that suit the Personal Assistant own lives. There is fantastic onboarding training and induction provided. This is a small, wonderfully eclectic team Paul has around him. Decisions are made jointly and you will feel well supported. And you will be very fortunate to join Paul and his family!
