Essential: Confident with manual handling /hoisting, confident swimming/supporting a client during hydrotherapy, excellent communication skills

About this client: Billy is 31 years old, living independently in a fully adapted home with the support and assistance of his care team in Shoreham, a short distance from the beach. His team provides 2:1 support, 24/7. Billy leads an active lifestyle, he has many hobbies and interests, including swimming (hydrotherapy), bowling, quizzing, cooking, and watching movies. He has recently taken up boxing and going to the gym.  Billy sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in his younger years, resulting in life changing injuries. He has complex cognitive and physical needs, reduced short-term memory and vision, complex tonal issues – predominantly low tone with dystonic patterning, and he is a wheelchair user. Billy’s speech is impaired, which at times, he finds frustrating. Within a short period of time of getting to know him, you become familiar with his speech, and this is no longer an obstacle. He has a great personality; he loves to get involved in jokes and banter. His team ensures Billy lives life to the full, and there is an opening for a full-time and part-time Brain Injury Support Worker / PA.

Overview of role: Billy’s team provide a mixture of day, waking night and sleeping night support, working on a 2:1 basis, the shifts range from 8 hours to 24 hours depending on your availability, the 16- and 24-hour shift, include a sleeping night shift. As Billy’s Support Worker / PA you will assist with all aspects of his health, care, medical, therapy and social plan. Billy is reliant on his team to assist and support with all aspects of his ADLs, accessing activities and supporting him to live independently. Much more information available about this fantastic position on application. Shift pattern: 8.00 am to 8.00pm, 8.00am to 4.00pm, 4.00pm to 8.00am, and 8.00pm to 8.00am. The client is unable to offer set shifts or days, however, they can be extremely flexible for the right person for Billy’s team. The team is managed by a Team Leader and Case Manager.
