About our client: Sarah is soon to be 30 and currently lives with her parents in her childhood home in Eastbourne and, in the coming months she will be moving into her own fully adapted home in Stone Cross (BN24), just a short drive away. Sarah’s parents and her older sister are incredibly supportive, and alongside her family, she has a phenomenal team of PAs and RGNs who have championed her for many years now. Everyone is working together to ensure a smooth transition to her new home and to put the necessary support in place. To assist with this, Snap Care is recruiting an RGN to join Sarah’s directly employed team. Beyond this exciting new chapter, Sarah has a vibrant life filled with activities she enjoys both at home and in her community. She attends a life skills centre three times a week, where she loves cooking, art classes, gardening, and playing the drums! She’s also a big fan of music especially tribute bands, and enjoys going to the theatre, yoga classes, shopping, and people-watching along Eastbourne Seafront. Sarah requires 2:1 day support, and over night care as she has Cerebral Palsy, Scoliosis and Dystonia, she is a full-time wheelchair user and has a DBS Deep Brain Stimulator inserted to help manage her dystonia, along with medication, and receives all of her nutrition, fluid and medication via her Mic-Key Button. Sarah uses sounds and facial expressions to communicate, and loves general chit chat; engaging, upbeat and funny chat will always put a smile on her face.
Overview of role: The RGN will work alongside a team member to assist and support all aspects of Sarah’s health, care, and medical needs. The RGN team is responsible for titrating medication, monitoring and recording observations and vital signs, managing and caring for Sarah’s Mic-Key Button, overseeing the DBS, and ensuring her care plan is consistently implemented, updated, and reviewed as needed. There are established policies, procedures, and protocols in place, and the RGN will receive ongoing clinical supervision and support. While this role includes medical responsibilities, the RGN must also be confident and enthusiastic about supporting Sarah with activities of daily living (ADLs), social outings, and other activities. Sarah relies on her team to work towards a shared goal: meeting all her health, care, and medical needs while enabling her to live life to the fullest. Overnight shifts are available for the RGN to work. While Sarah generally sleeps well, she may wake if she feels uncomfortable or unwell. In such cases, you will be alerted via a monitor if she needs support or assistance. Please note that you will initially be supporting Sarah in her childhood family home. More details are available upon application
