About the Family and Children This lively and open-hearted family has four curious and creative children: Sultan (9), Ali (5), Omar (4), and Aria (2). While you will interact with all the children your primary focus will be on Sultan and Ali, supporting their cognitive, emotional, and physical development. The children all have other nannies. Both boys are sunny-natured, they have learning and behavioural needs that are best addressed at their own pace with clear, structured guidance. Sultan is confident, with mild attention and behavioural challenges. He enjoys watching movies and prefers tasks that provide structure. Ali loves imaginative play, gardening, and pottery, but sometimes struggles with emotional regulation. He thrives when given clear boundaries and expectations. Both boys, who I was delighted to meet online, enjoy sports, particularly football, and love engaging in playful wrestling together.
Role Overview Your primary responsibility will be to support Sultan and Ali, helping them wind down after school with engaging activities before facilitating structured lessons. These sessions will include active play, occupational therapy exercises, art, clay work, felting, maths, reading, and writing. The boys speak both English and Arabic, and they attend separate Arabic language classes. Your role will involve establishing a consistent routine, modelling positive behaviour, and helping the boys express themselves in a supportive way. The family travels internationally once a year and frequently stays with grandparents in Abu Dhabi, where you will be accommodated in a hotel. Flexibility is key, as the position involves working 5-6 days a week, up to 12 hours per day, although some days may require fewer hours.
Ideal Candidate You don’t need to be a qualified teacher, but strong teaching skills are essential. You should be patient, creative, and able to take a child-led approach, especially in supporting children with learning and behavioural needs. Previous experience in fully staffed households is important, as you’ll be working alongside a team, including individual nannies for each child. Professional experience caring for multiple children is also essential. The ideal candidate will be perceptive, self-sufficient, open-minded, and bring a positive, friendly attitude. A good sense of humour and a love for animals are essential in this busy household.
What’s great about this job: This role offers an excellent package, including a private, self-contained apartment with all bills covered except Wi-Fi/Internet. Training opportunities are available, including sessions with the children’s Waldorf-trained tutor and first aid certification. The family is also flexible with time off for additional professional development.
